COASTEERING
Coasteering is an exhilarating, adventurous journey exploring the coastline. It combines sea-level traversing, scrambling and climbing along the rocks. As a Coasteerer you will jump, step-out and use other methods of entering the water and moving around obstacles. Essentially it is a dynamic use of the coastline with short bursts of wild swimming as a spectacular journey along our coastline.
Coasteering is the best way to experience the true beauty of the stunning north-east coast where you are surrounded by the elements and nature and often encounter amazing wildlife such as dolphins and seals. Our coasteering venue is a beautiful location used exclusively by High Tide Adventure Co., which has crystal blue water and spectacular rocks to play amongst.
CANYONING & Gorge WALKING
Canyoning is a high adrenaline activity in the beauty of a canyon or gorge (steep-sided cliff or river-bank) as part of a natural water course. A canyon-journey will take you down and through a gorge/canyon, navigating through streams, pools and waterfalls. As a Canyoneer you will hike, climb, wild swim, slide, jump and abseil down waterfalls, making your way through the gorge, often using more technical equipment for safety i.e when abseiling.
Gorge Walking is a challenging, fun activity which can either be up or downstream. Unlike crayoning it normally it doesn’t involve the use of technical equipment to aid your journey through the gorge. A typical journey will involve, scrambling, climbing, jumps, slides and other team or individual challenges.
Our venues include Northumberland, Lake District, North Yorkshire and North Wales, with a variety of canyons used depending on the level of challenge and adventure required.
BUSHCRAFT & SURVIVAL EXPERIENCE
Bushcraft is all about learning wilderness and survival skills to thrive in the natural outdoor environment. Skills like fire-building, fire-lighting, outdoor-cooking, shelter-building and hand-tool skills are developed. Our Survival Experience aims to develop the skills and abilities to live (or exist) during (or following) a ‘difficult circumstance’.
High Tide Adventure Company will teach you the key survival skills you require and then put you in a simulated survival situation lasting 12, 24 or 48 hours. Sessions take place at the High Tide Adventure Company Bushcraft & Survival venue, which is 9-acres of beautiful woodland just outside Brancepeth near Durham. But can also be delivered at your venue or (for school parties) even in school grounds.
THE REST
There’s plenty more adventures to choose from, including Gorge Walking, Climbing, Mountaineering, Team Building Events and School Activities. Our Mountaineering Adventure can be combined with other adventure skills such as scrambling, climbing, ‘Via Ferrata’ and abseiling (depending on ability), but it always takes place in a beautiful location, normally offering stunning views and opportunities to explore nature and view wildlife.
We are also part of the Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS), which best be described as a Junior Duke of Edinburgh (D of E) award. JASS has four units, all of which are self-credited by your school staff. Units can be set as a School, Year or Class project.
